A Year in Review from Bausch + Lomb

Dear Eye Care Professional,

Thanks to your support, 2017 has been an exceptional year for Bausch + Lomb. As always, your patients’ eye health is our primary goal. This commitment has led to the introduction of multiple new products and continued innovation to meet the needs of your patients and your practice, including:

  • The launches of Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism and Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism contact lenses; providing astigmatic patients with new monthly and daily disposable contact lens options.

  • Successful FDA review of Boston XO® and Boston XO2® materials for the treatment of ocular surface diseases, including dry eye disease.

  • Filing of a Premarket Approval Application (PMA) with FDA to approve Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® contact lenses for extended wear. If approved, Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® contact lenses would be indicated for up to seven days of continuous wear.

  • Biotrue® multi-purpose solution continues to be the leading lens care solution on the market , offering patients up to 20 hours of moisture.

  • The introduction of Ocuvite® Adult 50+ Formula Minigel daily eye vitamins, which are 25 percent smaller than the original 50+ product, designed for patients who have difficulty swallowing pills or capsules.

Beyond product advancements, we continue to raise awareness of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of vision loss in people age 50 and older, through the launch of our new “AMD Virtual Experience.” Additionally, we remain committed to environmental sustainability. This past year, through our ONE by ONE recycling program, in collaboration with TerraCycle®, we recycled more than one million used contact lenses, blister packs and top foils, while diverting more than 7,000 pounds of waste from landfills, and helping to create new post-consumer products. For every pound of waste accepted, an additional $1 donation is made to Optometry Giving Sight, specifically targeting the prevention of blindness and impaired vision by providing eye exams and glasses to those in need.

Through 2017, we continued participation with the Coalition for Patient Vision Care Safety, working alongside the AOA, contact lens manufacturers, healthcare providers, health research organizations, and academic institutions. Together, we advanced legislative and public policy efforts to help protect patient health and safety and emphasize the importance of regular eye exams.

As we head into 2018, we look forward to continuing our momentum as we support you and your patients by providing products, specifically designed for your patients’ eye care needs.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your sales representative at any time. On behalf of Bausch + Lomb, I want to wish you and your families a beautiful holiday season, and continued success and happiness in the New Year.

Best Regards,
