Bausch + Lomb Leading the Way to a New Era in Retina

August 8, 2017

Dear Eye Care Professional:

Just a few weeks ago, Bausch + Lomb marked a major milestone when we initiated a post-approval clinical study using Vitesse™ vitreous cutter, the only hypersonic, 100% open-port vitrectomy system, for the first time in human eyes.

The first major vitreous removal innovation in 40 years, Vitesse uses patented technology to create a highly localized tissue liquification zone at the edge of the port and liquefy vitreous for exceptional control during tissue removal. The open-port design is 100% open 100% of the time for continuous flow, and the unique single-lumen design provides completely unobstructed aspiration. The FDA review of Vitesse was successfully completed in April, and will be available later this year.

Vitesse will soon be available exclusively on the new Stellaris Elite™ vision enhancement system, our next-generation vitrectomy platform for retina applications. This multi-function surgical system features ready-to-use advancements as well as the ability to seamlessly integrate future technologies, such as Vitesse. To try this new technology, please click here to contact me directly so we can arrange a demonstration with our team in your operating room.

In addition to our commitment to innovation, we recently expanded our sales organization specifically to serve and support retina specialists. Please feel free to reach out to your representative, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about these or our other Bausch + Lomb technologies. We also invite you to visit with us at the upcoming American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) meeting in Boston, where we’ll offer surgeons hands-on experience with the new Stellaris Elite system and other retina technologies at our wet lab (booth #207).

We are excited to embark on this new era of retina by helping to make surgery safer and more efficient than ever before. Bausch + Lomb is proud of our recent investments and contributions to this specialty and looks forward to helping to make a positive impact on your practice in the future.

As always, I welcome you to join us on this journey and please send any questions, comments or ideas to me at chuck.hess@bausch.com.

I look forward to seeing you in Boston.

Best regards,
