  • + Fred Hassan, Chairman

    • Fred Hassan is the chairman of Bausch + Lomb. He was elected to this role in March 2010.

      Mr. Hassan is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Schering-Plough Corporation. He serves currently on the boards of Avon and Time-Warner, and is a senior advisor with the private equity firm Warburg Pincus.

      Hassan was chairman and chief executive officer of Schering-Plough Corporation from 2003 until its merger with Merck & Co. in November 2009. He previously served as chief executive officer and as chairman and chief executive officer of Pharmacia Corporation from 2001 to 2003 until its acquisition by Pfizer Inc. Mr. Hassan is also the former chief executive officer of Pharmacia and Upjohn Inc., which merged with the Monsanto Corporation to become Pharmacia Corporation in 2000.

      He is a member of The Business Council, and is the past chairman of the board of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

      He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from the Imperial College of Science and Technology at the University of London and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.

  • + Brent L. Saunders, President & Chief Executive Officer

    • Brent Saunders is president and chief executive officer of Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company.  He was appointed to this position in March 2010.

      Mr. Saunders has significant healthcare industry expertise and a proven track-record leading business transformations and integrations.  Most recently he held the position of president of Global Consumer Health Care at Schering-Plough and was named head of integration for the company’s merger with Merck & Co. and for Schering Plough’s acquisition of Organon BioSciences.

      Before joining Schering-Plough, Mr. Saunders was a partner and head of Compliance Business Advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  Prior to that, he was chief risk officer at Coventry Health Care and senior vice president, Compliance, Legal and Regulatory at Home Care Corporation of America.  Mr. Saunders began his career as chief compliance officer for the Thomas Jefferson University Health System.

      Mr. Saunders serves on the Board of Directors of Forest Laboratories and the Overlook Foundation.  He is also a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Upstate Regional Advisory Board.

      Mr. Saunders, 43, earned his MBA from Temple University School of Business, his J.D. from Temple University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

  • + Sean D. Carney, Managing Director, Warburg Pincus

    • Mr. Carney joined Warburg Pincus in 1996 and focuses on investments in medical devices. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Mr. Carney is a director of Aeolus, Arch Capital Group, DexCom, Keystone Dental, NuLens and Tornier. He received an A.B. degree in economics from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

  • + Maria Teresa (Tessa) Hilado

    • Maria Teresa (Tessa) Hilado was appointed to our board in May 2013.  Ms. Hilado has served as Senior Vice-President, Finance and Treasurer at PepsiCo Inc. since 2009. Prior to that, she was Vice President and Treasurer of Schering-Plough Corporation from 2008 to 2009. 

      Previously, Ms. Hilado spent 17 years at General Motors Corporation where she held a variety of senior finance roles including Assistant Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, GMAC Commercial Finance.  She also held a variety of positions in M&A, labor negotiations and treasury.  

      In 2012, Ms. Hilado was named by Treasury and Risk Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People In Finance.”  Ms. Hilado serves as the executive sponsor of PepsiCo’s Women’s Inclusion Network at the company headquarters and is co-chair for the 2013 Strong Kids Campaign of the YMCA of Greater New York. 

      Ms. Hilado holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School of Business.

  • + Joseph P. Landy, Co-President, Warburg Pincus

    • Mr. Landy joined Warburg Pincus in 1985 and focuses on investments in information technology, communications applications and structured investments. A former president of the Venture Investors Association of New York, Mr. Landy is a trustee of the Clark Art Institute and of the Williamstown Art Conservation Center. He is a director of The Cobalt Group, Telcordia Technologies, RMI Corporation and MicroVest, an investment fund focused on microfinance institutions in developing countries. He holds a B.S. degree in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.

  • + D. Scott Mackesy, Welsh, Carson, Anderson, and Stowe

    • Mr. Mackesy joined Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe (WCAS) in 1998. He is a general partner focusing on investments in the healthcare industry and is a member of the WCAS Management Committee. Prior, Mr. Mackesy was a senior research analyst at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, where he was responsible for coverage of the healthcare services sector.  Mr. Mackesy serves on the boards of directors of several private companies including Ardent Health Services L.L.C., Renal Advantage, Inc., and United Surgical Partners, Inc.

  • + Richard F. Wallman

    • Mr. Wallman was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Honeywell International, Inc. from 1995 until his retirement in 2003. Prior, he was vice president and controller at IBM Corporation, and held leadership positions at Chrysler Corporation over the course of 14 years. He is a director of Ariba, Convergys, Hayes Lemmerz International, Lear Corporation, and Roper Industries. Mr. Wallman holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

  • + Elizabeth H. Weatherman, Managing Director, Warburg Pincus

    • Ms. Weatherman joined Warburg Pincus in 1988 and is responsible for the firm's medical device investment activities. Ms. Weatherman is a director of Bacchus Vascular, ev3 and Tornier. She also serves on the board of the National Venture Capital Association. Ms. Weatherman received a B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Mount Holyoke College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
