Bausch & Lomb to Participate in IAPB General Assembly

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Bausch & Lomb, the global eye health company, announces its participation in the IAPB (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness) 8th Annual General Assembly, to be held in Buenos Aires next month.

Bausch & Lomb is one of six corporate and foundation members of IAPB and VISION2020: The Right to Sight, which is a global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness, coordinated jointly by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

“The assembly’s theme — ‘Excellence and Equity in Eyecare’ — mirrors our own commitment to preserving, treating and enhancing the eyesight of people worldwide,” said Alan Farnsworth, corporate vice president, Bausch & Lomb, and a member of the IAPB/VISION 2020 board of trustees. “We look forward to engaging scientists, NGOs, and corporate partners in Buenos Aires, helping discover new avenues to bring eye care to those most in need around the globe.”

The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness was established in 1975 as a coordinating, umbrella organization to lead international efforts in blindness prevention activities. Its first major achievement was to promote the establishment of the WHO Program for Prevention of Blindness, with which it has remained strongly linked, and which is now embodied in VISION 2020: The Right to Sight.

Bausch & Lomb’s exhibit will run from August 25 to 28 at the Hotel Panamericano.
