Lens Care Explained

The Critical Steps

Lens Care ExplainedCleaning and disinfecting are critical steps in the care of your lenses. Cleaning removes dirt and deposits that have accumulated on your lenses. Part of this buildup comes from cosmetics and the environment; the rest is from deposits that exist naturally in your tears. Although you usually can't see them, these deposits begin to adhere to your lenses very soon after you put them in, and could cause discomfort or interfere with your vision.

Once you've cleaned your lenses, they need to be disinfected. Like dirt and deposits, germs (micro-organisms) can accumulate on your lenses throughout the day. Unfortunately, cleaning alone can't get rid of all the germs. You also need to disinfect your lenses. Disinfecting is critical because germs can multiply and may lead to an eye infection. Disinfecting your lenses kills the germs so that your lenses will be safe to wear.
