Muro 128® 5% Sodium Chloride Hypertonic Solution

Muro 128® 5% solution is a sterile ophthalmic solution intended to provide temporary relief of corneal edema, the accumulation of excessive amounts of fluids within the cornea.

Muro 128® 5% solution acts by osmotically drawing water through the semi-permeable corneal epithelium. It reduces the swelling of the cornea and improves transparency. Although not a prescription product, it should only be used under the supervision of an eye care professional.

  • Sodium Chloride 5% (tonicity adjustment)
  • Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) (viscosity agent)
  • Propylene Glycol (viscosity agent)
  • Boric Acid (buffer – pH balance)
  • Sodium Borate (buffer)
  • Methylparaben 0.023% (preservative)
  • Propylparaben 0.01% (preservative)
  • Purified Water (vehicle)

 

Contraindications:

  • use only under the supervision of an eye care professional
  • consult an eye care professional if eye pain is experienced, change in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye or if condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours
  • may cause temporary burning or irritation on being instilled into the eye
  • if solution changes colour or becomes cloudy, do not use
