- What makes Soothe®XP different than other dry eye products?
-
Ordinary lubricant eye drops simply provide moisture which can evaporate quickly from the surface of the eye. SootheXP is an emollient (lubricant) that restores more of the tear film, meaning it adds moisture and has oils that help restore the outer layer of the tear film. By restoring this outer "lipid" layer, you can minimize evaporation and seal moisture in longer, for relief of dry eye symptoms for up to 8 hours.
- What should I expect when using Soothe®XP eye drops?
-
SootheXP is a unique oil-based emulsion; it will have a milky white appearance and will go to work immediately. After momentarily blurred vision upon instillation, SootheXP will bring up to 8 hours of lasting relief.
Soothe will provide up to 8 hours of relief from dry eye symptoms, but it's gentle and safe to use as often as you like. You should remove contact lenses before instillation and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting them.
Soothe is excellent for dry eyes resulting from eye surgery such as LASIK or cataract removal. Consult your eye care professional about using Soothe in your particular situation.
- What is Restoryl®?
-
The main ingredient in Soothe®XP, Restoryl® is the trade name for a mixture of highly purified mineral oils, Drakeol®-15 and Drakeol®-35, specifically designed to rapidly restore the oily outer lipid layer and provide up to 8 hours of relief. These oils serve a function similar to the oils found in natural, healthy tears.
- Is SootheXP proven safe and effective?
-
Yes, the inventor of SootheXP, Dr. Donald Korb, has conducted several studies over the course of several years that show SootheXP to be both safe and effective in increasing the lipid layer of the tear film and relieving dry eye symptoms.
Soothe meets the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's over-the-counter guidelines for eye care products. It will have a "milky" or "cloudy" appearance because it's an emulsion, not a solution. It's precisely this property that restores the outer lipid layer of the tear film and helps prevent tear loss due to evaporation. - Do I need a prescription to buy SootheXP?
-
No, SootheXP is available over the counter at many pharmacies, grocery stores and other retail outlets. You can also purchase SootheXP at online retailers.
