FOR RELEASE MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2006
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Bausch & Lomb announces that it has expanded the parameters of PureVision Toric to include plus powers as well as a higher cylinder across the entire correction range. This means eye care professionals can now fit virtually all of their astigmatic patients with a proven toric design in a healthy silicone hydrogel contact lens material.
The new parameters include:
• Plus Powers: +0.25 D to +6.00 D in 0.25 D steps, -0.75 D, -1.25 D and -1.75 D cylinder and axis from 10º to 180º ;
• Higher Cylinder: -2.25 D cylinder across entire range from +6.00D to -9.00D.
“This parameter expansion brings the correction range coverage for PureVision
Toric to roughly 97 percent of that offered under SofLens66® Toric,” said Lisa
Fawcett, Bausch & Lomb vice president of contact lens marketing. “This
announcement enables eye care professionals to confidently reach for this lens
first and switch their patients to PureVision Toric. We believe that this
parameter expansion, along with a competitive pricing structure, combine to
make PureVision Toric the best choice for stability, vision, health and value
for astigmatic patients”
The expanded parameters became commercially available December 1, 2006. Bausch & Lomb offers all powers of the PureVision Toric lens at a single price, contrary to the industry practice of charging more for higher cylinder lenses.
