Bausch & Lomb Expands Parameters

for PureVision® Toric Contact Lens in U.S.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Bausch & Lomb is expanding the parameter range of its PureVision® Toric (balafilcon A) Visibility Tinted Contact Lens for vision correction in people with astigmatism.  The expanded parameters will be available to customers the first week of June.

The new parameters are:

• Sphere Powers: Plano (0.00D); Cylinder: -0.75D, -1.25D and -1.75D; and Axes: 10°-180° in 10° steps and
• Sphere Powers: -6.50D to -9.00D, in 0.50 steps; Cylinder:  -0.75D, -1.25D and -1.75D; and Axes: 10°-180° in 10° steps.

The PureVision Toric parameters comprise Powers: -0.25D to -6.00D in 0.25 steps and
-6.50D to -9.00D, in 0.50 steps; Cylinder:  -0.75D, -1.25D and -1.75D; and Axes: 10°-180° in 10° steps.  Additional parameters are slated for introduction later this year.

The PureVision Toric contact lens combines Bausch & Lomb’s industry-leading SofLens66®  Toric lens design featuring enhanced aspheric optics with its patented AerGel TM  silicone hydrogel material to deliver exceptional vision, stability and comfort.
 
Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last spring, and launched in October 2005, the PureVision Toric contact lens is the only toric lens available for daily wear or extended wear from one to 30 days for the correction of nearsightedness (myopia) or farsightedness (hyperopia).
 
The Bausch & Lomb PureVision Toric contact lens is designed for monthly replacement and is also available in worldwide markets in Europe, Canada and Australia.
