Bausch & Lomb Updates Status of Financial Reporting

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Bausch & Lomb (NYSE: BOL) is filing a Form 12b-25 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) indicating that it must delay filing its Form 10-Q for the second quarter of 2006 which was otherwise required to be filed on or before August 10, 2006. Reasons for the delay are set forth in Form 12b-25 to which readers are directed. The 12b-25 also covers the status of the ongoing work required to be completed in order for the Company to file its Annual Report on Form 10-K for 2005 and its Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q for the third quarter of 2005 and the first quarter of 2006; as well as a discussion of certain preliminary financial information for the first half of 2006 and certain information concerning currently anticipated financial performance for 2006 and 2007.
In addition, Bausch & Lomb is filing a Form 8-K with the SEC indicating that in evaluating the impact of the withdrawal of its MoistureLoc product on 2005 and 2006 results, the Company has concluded that under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, it will record a valuation allowance in 2005 with respect to U.S. deferred tax assets previously recorded on its balance sheet.
