Bausch & Lomb Achieves Perfect Equality Score

September 19, 2006 –Bausch & Lomb achieved a 100-percent score in the annual Corporate Equality Index, a nationwide ranking sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. It is the fourth consecutive year the eye health company received a perfect equality index score.

The index rates companies on their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

“Achieving equality for all employees is an ongoing process, not a single action or initiative,” said Clayton Osborne, vice president – Human Resources. “We are committed to diversity and equality here at Bausch & Lomb and we have made good progress.  We need to continue our efforts aimed at embracing and valuing all of our employees including gay, lesbian and transgender people. There is an indisputable link between having highly engaged employees who are culturally competent and achieving outstanding business results.”

Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said, “At an ever increasing pace, corporate executives understand that supporting their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees is not only the right thing to do but it is also good for business.  The findings in this year’s report send a clear message that the American workplace is rapidly becoming more inclusive of diversity.”
