Featuring a proven LASIK algorithm, PlanoScan™ 2000 software is used in the Technolas® 217A excimer laser to correct myopia from -1.00 to -11.00 diopters with less than 3.00 diopters of astigmatism, and hyperopia up to +4.00 diopters with astigmatism up to +2.00 diopters. Optimized to prohibit consecutive pulses from striking the same spot on the cornea, it produces a smoother ablated surface with minimal shockwave, and minimizes the thermal load to the cornea thereby reducing the potential for trauma and edema.
