How Soothe®XP Emollient (Lubricant) Eye Drops Compare

Soothe®XP Emollient (Lubricant) Eye Drops are unlike ordinary lubricant eye drops which simply provide moisture which can evaporate quickly from the surface of the eye. While Soothe®XP also provides moisture, it contains Restoryl®, the advanced lipid restorative which providesa barrier to tear loss for relief that lasts up to 8 hours.

Soothe®XP Eye Drops vs. Refresh

In a study designed to compare the efficacy of SootheXP Emollient (Lubricant) Eye Drops and Refresh Tears Lubricant Eye Drops in relieving the symptoms of dry eye, patients were asked to use each product for a week.

Participants had a history of dry eye symptoms and had previously used over-the-counter ocular lubricants. Two groups of 20 patients subjectively evaluated the change in dryness, irritation, and burning 8 hours after instillation of one drop daily.

Among SootheXP users, 85 percent reported fair to excellent improvement. Only 25 percent in the Refresh Tears group reported similar improvement.

Patients overwhelmingly preferred SootheXP.

Soothe®XP Eye Drops vs. Systane

In a recent study, 73 percent of dry eye patients were found to have a depleted lipid layer, the outer, oil-based layer of the tear film. A compromised lipid layer results in up to a four-fold increase in tear evaporation. 1

The same study measured improvement in lipid layer thickness after instilling a drop of SootheXP Emollient (Lubricant) Eye Drops and after a drop of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops.

Soothe increased lipid layer thickness by 107 percent, to levels above normal. Systane, however, had little to no effect on lipid layer thickness, showing a 16 percent mean increase.
