The anti-inflammatory component of Zylet® is
loteprednol etabonate 0.5%. Loteprednol etabonate is one of the most tested and
proven corticosteroids of the past decade.13 Loteprednol etabonate
has been shown effective in the following conditions:
Management of postoperative inflammation
Based on Investigator's Global Assessment,
anterior chamber inflammation was resolved or reasonably controlled by the
final visit in 84% of patients using loteprednol etabonate
0.5%.23,24
Management of internal inflammation
In one 28 day study of acute anterior uveitis,
72% of patients using loteprednol etabonate 0.5% had complete resolution of
cells, and 66% of patients had complete resolution of flare by the final
visit.31
Management of external inflammation
Loteprednol etabonate 0.5% has been proven effective in treating giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC) and seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (SAC).19,25,26
- 94% positive response against itching caused by GPC ( n = 220) vs. placebo (79%; n = 219) with p<0.001.19,26
- 94% positive response to prophylactic treatment against signs and symptoms of SAC (n=145) vs. placebo (78%; n=143) with p= 0.001.25
