Contact Lenses & Care
Healthy Eyes
Like all patients, toric lens wearers expect long wearing times and white, healthy-looking eyes.
- 54% of lens wearers report needing to wear their lenses longer than 15 hours a day4.
-
Nearly half of all patients give “better appearance” as their main reason for trying contacts–but nearly a third of current wearers say their lenses make their eyes red and irritated4.
Even satisfied lens wearers want to know when there’s something better for them.
- 90% of patients are interested in discussing new innovations in contact lenses with you5.
- 80% of patients feel better about their eye care professional once informed about new innovations5.

2 Results from a
clinical evaluation conducted at 117 sites in 8 countries in which 900
astigmatic patients wearing spectacles (n=119), spherical contact lenses, or
toric contact lenses (n=629) were fitted with PureVision Toric lenses. After
using the PureVision Toric lenses for 1 month, patients completed a forced
choice questionnaire in which they chose product preferences for specific
attributes. Practitioners provided lens fit, slit lamp evaluations, and product
performance rating information at each visit.

performed by Image Engineering, Inc.
4 Results from the 2005 Gallup study of the contact lens market.
5 Results from a 2005 independent survey of 300 current contact lens wearers
conducted by SHC & Associates.
6 Results from a series of overnight corneal swelling clinical studies of
adapted daily wear soft lens patients. For these investigations, patients wore
conventional hydrogel lenses (Dk/t ranged from 24 to 40), 100% silicone
elastomer lenses (Dk/t > 200), PureVision lenses, or no lens. A -3.00D lens
was used for the overnight corneal swelling lens comparisons. Corneal swelling
measurements were made following closed eye conditions for approximately 8
hours.
