Hydranate® effectively cleans and removes both native and denatured protein that accumulates during wear.
Native Protein — which is easily removed with a simple soak (passive cleaning). Even saline can remove native protein from soft lenses.

Denatured Protein — binds strongly to the lens requiring a protein remover that removes both native and denatured protein.
Denatured proteins:
- Bind strongly to the lens surface
- Are Translucent to opaque in appearance
- May reduce comfort
- May cause adverse ocular effects such as Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis
- May decrease visual acuity
1An in vitro study evaluated the release of wetting agents from Group IV contacts lenses. Lenses were soaked overnight in either ReNu MultiPlus, Opti-Free Express, or Complete Moisture Plus Solutions. Lenses were rinsed with phosphate buffered saline at a rate approximating tear film secretions for an eight-hour period. At designed times, surface tension (dynes/cm) of wetting agents rinsed from the lens was calculated using saline as the control and compared to the surface tensions for the multi-purpose solutions. The results are an indications that ReNu MultiPlus solutions remains presents on lens surfaces longer than competitive products.
