Bausch + Lomb Launches PeroxiClear™, the Most-Advanced 
Peroxide-Based Cleaning and Disinfecting Lens Solution in Almost a Decade

New Solution Offers an Alternative Peroxide-Based Product

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, today announced the introduction ofPeroxiClear™ 3% hydrogen peroxide cleaning and disinfecting solution, the most advanced* peroxide-based lens care solution to launch in years. The solution offers a welcome alternative peroxide-based product. PeroxiClear solution has been proven to keep contact lenses cleaner and moister for longer.1-3

PeroxiClear solution is a unique formula that contains Triple-Moist Technology™, which helps to provide up to 20 hours of moisture.1 PeroxiClear provides the disinfection efficacy you expect from a hydrogen peroxide solution, but neutralizes in only four hours, as compared to six with other peroxides.

With the introduction of PeroxiClear solution, Bausch + Lomb now has products in each key segment of the lens care business, including Boston® rigid gas permeable lenses, Biotrue® and renu® multi-purpose solutions, and peroxide-based care.

PeroxiClear solution will be available in major retailers starting in April and May 2014, including Target, Rite-Aid, K-Mart, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS.  It will be available at most retailers nationwide by June 2014.

1 High-resolution/accurate-mass (HR/AM) mass spectrometry was used to detect and quantitate the relative amounts of surfactant retained on lenses from PeroxiClear™ and Clear Care solutions after 20 hours of wear. PureVision®2, ACUVUE OASYS, and AIR OPTIX AQUA lenses were soaked in solutions for 12 hours prior to patients wearing lenses for 20 hours. 
2  Results of an ex vivo study measuring deposits on worn contact lenses to compare the clinical performance of PeroxiClear™ and Clear Care solutions. Lenses were worn daily for 1 month (silicone hydrogel and Group IV hydrogel lenses) or 3 months (gas permeable lenses). A total of 374 lenses were randomly selected for image analysis. Lenses were scored for mean density of deposits and percent coverage of deposits.
3 Results of an in vitro study measuring deposits on ACUVUE OASYS lenses. Lenses were subjected to 14 cycles of deposition with a lipid and protein solution mimicking the human tear film followed by a cleaning regimen with either PeroxiClear™ or Clear Care 3% hydrogen peroxide systems. Each deposition/cleaning cycle was representative of one day of patient use. Cycled lenses (n=3) were analyzed for deposits using image analysis. After 14 cycles, lenses cleaned with PeroxiClear™ had only 8.0% surface coverage compared to 33.0% for lenses cleaned with Clear Care.
