Portfolio Expansion, Educational Offerings & SECO 2017

March 1, 2017

Dear Eye Care Professional,

During the SECO International meeting this week, where we hope you will experience, learn and share with the Bausch + Lomb team, we wanted to take a moment to provide you with a glimpse of what you can expect to see as well as an update on our progress as we continue to provide you with a compelling and comprehensive portfolio of vision care solutions and technologies.

Expanding our Vision Care Portfolio and Introducing Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism Lenses
In January, we announced the expanded parameter range of Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Presbyopia contact lenses to +4.50D to -10.00D (in 0.25D steps) in both low add and high add, providing even more of your presbyopic patients with exceptional comfort and outstanding vision at near, intermediate, and distance.

Through our Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products business, we introduced the Zen™ RC Scleral contact lens, specifically designed to fit normal corneas, and introduced ScleralFil™ preservative free saline solution, indicated for inserting and rinsing scleral lenses.

And today, we are excited to announce the national launch of the company’s newest contact lens innovation, Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses, designed to provide consistently clear vision and comfort throughout the day. Completing our Biotrue® ONEday family of lenses, which start and end the day with more moisture than the leading daily disposable lenses, the Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism lenses provide the convenience of a daily disposable with the innovation of an evolved peri-ballast design and Surface Active Technology™ material, which helps the lens maintain 98% of its moisture for up to 16 hours.

We invite you to learn more about our new advanced toric contact lens design during our programs at SECO International this week:

  • Thursday, March 2:
Biotrue ONEday® for Astigmatism Presentation with Mile Brujic, O.D., partner of Premier Vision Group in Bowling Green, OH (Exhibit Hall at 3 p.m. EST)
  • Friday, March 3:
“Advances in Contact Lens Technology” with Brian Rosenblatt, O.D., director of professional strategy, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb (Building A – Presentation Theatre at 12 p.m. EST)

As you can see, our pace of innovation is unwavering, and we have plans to accelerate as we move into the rest of the year.

Providing You with More Reasons to Believe
Earlier this week, we kicked off our successful educational and training initiative with the year’s first B+Lieve™ symposium in San Francisco, CA. The first of many in a series of events, more than 200 eye care professionals learned how the natural biology of the eye inspired the development of the innovative design and lens material of Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism contact lenses. Through peer-to-peer educational events and face-to-face interactions including enhanced support of state associations, more B+Lieve meetings and support of optometric schools and their students, our team looks forward to doubling our engagement with you in 2017.

Continuing to Advocate for Patient Safety and Health
In February, we partnered with the organization Prevent Blindness, the nation’s oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight, for the second year in a row to urge patients to join the fight for their sight during Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness Month. Through a social media campaign incorporating the #whyeyefight hashtag, $25,000 was raised to support Prevent Blindness’ mission.*

Bausch + Lomb continues to play an active role in the Coalition for Patient Vision Care Safety. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of regular eye exams, proper contact lens selection, enhancing the patient-doctor relationship, and opposing practices that undermine patient health and safety. As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting eye health and safety, we support a variety of initiatives and organizations, including Optometry Giving Sight, and look forward to continuing to collaborate with you, providers, manufacturers, and customers to advocate for the safe wear and care of contact lenses throughout 2017 and beyond.

We are incredibly grateful for feedback and insights, which help us deliver product innovations that not only meet but exceed your needs and expectations, and thank you for continuing to be our partner in advancing the progress of the eye health industry and promoting patient safety and health.
