ALISO VIEJO, CALIF. -- Bausch & Lomb Storz® Ophthalmic Instruments announced the U.S. release of two new instruments for use during Crystalens® surgery, the Brown Crystalens Haptic Placement Forceps and the Lindstrom Lens Positioner.
The Brown Crystalens Haptic Placement Forceps have a “trident” shaped tip designed to securely grasp the lens at the incision and position it in the capsule. While closed tightly when the Crystalens is in the anterior chamber, the forceps will maneuver the haptics posteriorly, avoiding entanglement with the iris and anterior capsule. It allows precise release of the Crystalens Haptics into the capsular bag and facilitates small pupil lens implantation.
The Lindstrom Lens Positioner is a versatile instrument featuring a semi-sharp angled tip that allows the surgeon to position an intraocular lens by engaging optic material. It is specially designed for the Crystalens and Akreos® lenses to effectively facilitate movement of the lens in the capsule without marking it.
The Brown Crystalens Haptic Placement Forceps and the Lindstrom Lens Positioner are just two of the instruments available in the complete Crystalens Instrument Set offered by Bausch & Lomb Storz Ophthlamics. Other instruments in the set include the Wallace 6mm Capsulorhexis Gauge, Utrata MICS™ Capsulorhexis Forceps, Whitman Shepherd Double-Ended Capsule Polisher and Wallace LRI Set. The complete set can be viewed by visiting www.storzeye.com/crystalens.aspx.
