Preservative-free Saline Solution for Scleral Patients Offers a New Alternative
for Rinsing and Inserting Scleral Lenses
FOR RELEASE THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2017
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, today announced that its Specialty Vision Products business has launched ScleralFil™ sterile buffered solution with no preservatives which is indicated for inserting and rinsing scleral lenses. This product will be available to order from the new Specialty Vision Products Web Store, a fast and convenient way for eye care professionals and patients to order ScleralFil™ as well as other Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products solutions. ScleraFil™ may also be available through select Authorized Boston Manufacturers.
“Our mission is to increase access to customized lens and lens care products for both patients and eye care professionals. Our new web store will help make it easier for both patients and eye care professionals to do so by giving them the ability to place and track their solutions orders anytime and anywhere, in addition to automatic delivery, so that patients never run out of product,” said David Bland, director, Specialty Vision Products, Bausch + Lomb. “We are excited to offer ScleralFil™ preservative free saline solution as another option to meet the needs of both scleral lens wearers and eye care professionals.”
ScleraFil™ contains no preservative or mercury-containing ingredients that can be sensitive to some contact lens wearers, and is buffered to maintain pH. The solution is indicated for use to insert scleral lenses and can also be used to rinse soft (hydrophilic) and rigid gas permeable contact lenses to remove debris and traces of daily cleaner, prior to lens insertion.
“As scleral lenses require careful insertion and aftercare to ensure comfortable and hygienic wear, it’s important that we recommend appropriate products to our scleral patients,” said Jason Jedlicka, O.D., FAAO, FSLS, FCLSA. “The new ScleralFil™ solution will offer my patients a convenient and easy-to-use option to insert and rinse their lenses.”
In addition to providing access to specialty vision products, eye care professionals can order their Boston® Solutions Care Systems from the new Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products Web Store. The Web Store will offer patients the convenience of 24/7 ordering, with free shipping on orders of $20.00 or more. This allows patients to easily obtain physician-prescribed products, and comply with their recommended lens care regimen. The Web Store will offer lens care and handling tips, plus product information to help support compliance.
