BRIDGEWATER, New Jersey, November 13, 2017 – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, today announced the launch of expanded parameters of Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism contact lenses. This expansion will extend the lens parameter offering to +6.00D to -9.00D in 0.25D steps (in 0.50D steps above -6.00D) in cylinder powers of -0.75D, -1.25D, -1.75D, -2.25D and axes of 10°-180˚ (in 10˚ steps), providing eye care professionals the opportunity to offer more of their astigmatic patients an exceptional toric lens that features all-day comfort, stability, and consistently clear vision.
“My astigmatic patients continue to be impressed with Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism contact lenses and the level of comfort and vision clarity they’re provided throughout the day,” said Mile Brujic, O.D., partner of Premier Vision Group in Bowling Green, OH. “Having access to the expanded parameters will allow me to offer even more of my patients this exceptional lens and help those who experience symptoms such as dryness, blurred vision and glare.”
Results from a survey of contact lens wearers who were prescribed Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism contact lenses show that patients overwhelmingly agree that they provide an outstanding lens wearing experience. Specifically:
“At Bausch + Lomb, we strive to develop innovative contact lenses that help eye care professionals provide their patients outstanding comfort, vision, and health,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism lenses were designed to work with the natural blink of patient’s eyes to ensure excellent stability and reduce halos and glare through our unique spherical aberration control. Now with the availability of a new, expanded power range, which includes over 1,000 more parameters than Acuvue Vita for Astigmatism lenses, we’re excited that additional patients may benefit from the exceptional all-day comfort and consistently clear vision these lenses offer.”
Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism contact lenses combine MoistureSeal® technology, which helps to maintain 95% of lens moisture for a full 16 hours2, and OpticAlign™ design, engineered for stability to promote a successful first fit1. The OpticAlign™ design was developed after extensively analyzing, testing, and optimizing numerous lens geometries to determine which performed best with the Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® contact lens material. Eye care professionals also report rotation at dispensing of 5 degrees or less for 94% of patients when fitting Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® for Astigmatism3.
