BAUSCH + LOMB RELOCATES COMPANY ARCHIVE TO NEW SPACE IN ROCHESTER, NY OPTICS CENTER FACILITY, SHOWCASING 165 YEARS OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION 

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 24, 2018 – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company and wholly owned subsidiary of Bausch Health Companies Inc. (NYSE/TSX: BHC), today announced it has unveiled a new Archive space within its Optics Center facility located at 1400 North Goodman Street in Rochester, NY. The Archive celebrates the mission of Bausch + Lomb’s co-founders, John Jacob (“J.J.”) Bausch and Henry Lomb, highlighting the innovations the company has brought to market throughout its 165-year history.

“Bausch + Lomb has been at the forefront of many innovations that have helped advance the vision and ocular health of people all over the world,” said Joseph Hart, executive director of site operations for the Rochester Optics Center at Bausch + Lomb. “The new Archive space offers employees and company visitors an opportunity to experience the company’s remarkable history in the hometown where Bausch + Lomb first originated.”  

Among the many displays in the new Archive space, which houses more than 12,000 items of company memorabilia from its Pharmaceutical, Surgical, Consumer Healthcare and Vision Care businesses, the artifacts that are featured include:

• J.J. Bausch’s vulcanite eyeglass frames (circa 1861), which became the first great success for the company
• Bausch + Lomb-manufactured microscopes (circa 1876)
• A number of eyeglass frames ranging from 1800 to 1940
• The Bausch + Lomb Balopticon image projector (circa 1902)
• The Super Cinephor, which helped make Bausch + Lomb the leading provider of professional lenses for the film industry, and
• The Super Baltar lens (circa 1964), which captured the first close-range images of the surface of the moon

Bausch + Lomb continues to manufacture and distribute contact lenses to millions of people around the globe from its Rochester, NY Optics Center location. These lenses include the company’s latest monthly contact lens technology, Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® contact lenses, as well as its PureVision®, PureVision®2, and SofLens® 38 contact lenses. 

Last week, Bausch + Lomb’s parent company, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc., began operating under its new name of Bausch Health. The Bausch Health name builds on the legacy of the Bausch brand, which has been a pioneer in the advancement of eye health since it was founded in 1853, and evokes the Bausch Health mission of “improving the lives of patients with our health care products”.
