Surgeons Invited to Gain Hands-on Experience, Learn More at Scientific Presentations, Educational Events
BRIDGEWATER, N.J., July 24, 2019 – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, today announced that it will showcase the company’s latest retina innovations, including the 23-gauge Bi-Blade® dual port vitrectomy cutter and the FreeFlow™ infusion system, at a wet lab located in the Bausch + Lomb booth (#606) during the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Retina Specialists in Chicago (July 26-30, 2019). Retina surgeons will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience with these and other technologies, and learn more about them by attending several scientific presentations and symposia.
“After launching several new technologies in recent weeks, we’re excited to offer surgeons attending the meeting the opportunity to test their performance themselves,” said Chuck Hess, vice president and general manager, U.S. Surgical, Bausch + Lomb. “We’re confident that those who do will find significant advantages that are designed to help them enhance their surgical performance and efficiency.”
Just introduced, the 23-gauge Bi-Blade® dual port vitrectomy cutter for the Stellaris Elite™ vision enhancement system is now the most efficient option in the Bi-Blade® portfolio. Also available in 25- and 27-gauge, Bi-Blade® cutters all feature dual-edge blades that cut in both backward and forward directions, therefore doubling effective cut rates and eliminating the effect of duty cycle to increase flow and efficiency compared to single-port probes.
The FreeFlow infusion system allows for a higher level of infusion flow compared to previous generation infusion lines to support the efficient vitreous removal provided by the company’s Bi-Blade® dual port vitrectomy cutters and Vitesse® hypersonic vitrectomy system, both available exclusively for use on the Stellaris Elite™ vision enhancement system. Unlike a traditional infusion line that extends vertically off the top of the cannula, the ergonomically designed FreeFlow system infusion line extends at a thirty degree angle to the cannula, providing the surgeon better access to the eye with less torqueing to direct infusion more centrally.
Other recently launched technologies include the Reddy End-Grasping forceps, a multifunctional instrument designed to help facilitate precise ILM and ERM peeling, and the Universal Viscous Fluid
Control Pack, which is designed to adapt to most surgical platforms, allowing surgeons to use a syringe adapter to utilize 1,000 wt. silicone oil or Bausch + Lomb’s convenient, prepackaged sterile ADATO® 5,000 wt. silicone oil.
In addition to these innovations, surgeons can learn more about the Vitesse® hypersonic vitrectomy system as well as the Stellaris Elite™ vision enhancement system, which offers retina and cataract capabilities in a single platform. Stellaris Elite also features eyeTELLIGENCE™, a digital ecosystem for interconnectivity between Bausch + Lomb, surgeons and their facilities designed to help increase efficiency when using the platform.
Surgeons can register for a wet lab session online at testdrivebauschandlomb.com, and learn more by attending the following:
