Coating Technology to be Available on Several of Bausch + Lomb’s Boston® Gas Permeable Materials
and Zenlens™ and Zen™ RC Scleral Lenses

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., June 25, 2018 – Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, today announced that it has entered into a worldwide licensing agreement with Tangible Science, LLC, a company whose mission is to create technologies that improve the contact lens wearing experience. As part of the agreement, Bausch + Lomb will offer the Tangible Science Hydra-PEG® advanced contact lens coating technology for use with several of its Boston® gas permeable (GP) materials and scleral lenses through its Specialty Vision Products business.

“We are pleased to enter this agreement with Tangible Science to further strengthen and enhance our growing portfolio of custom contact lenses,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “We understand that every patient is different and are committed to providing innovative solutions to eye care professionals that help meet more of their patients’ unique vision care needs.”

Tangible® Hydra-PEG® is a high water polymer coating that is bonded to the surface of a contact lens. It has been shown to improve wettability, increase surface water retention and lubricity, and minimize deposits on various lens materials.

“The response to Tangible® Hydra-PEG® has been exceptional from eye care professionals, who are looking for ways to better address comfort for their patients who wear custom lenses,” said Vic McCray, chief executive officer, Tangible Science. “They have encouraged us to expand options for their patients who require custom lenses, and this new relationship with Bausch + Lomb will allow us to respond to that demand through their broad portfolio and distribution network.”

The Tangible® Hydra-PEG® advanced contact lens coating technology is expected to be available with several of Bausch + Lomb’s Boston® GP materials, including Boston XO®, Boston XO2®, Boston EO®, and Boston ES®, along with the Zenlens™ and Zen™ RC scleral lenses by the end of 2018.
