ZIRGAN is applied 5 times per day until your eye ulcer heals; then the gel is applied 3 times
per day for 7 days. Follow your doctor's instructions.


Store ZIRGAN at room temperature (15°C-25°C or 59°F-77°F). Do not freeze.


If pain develops, or if redness, itching, or swelling becomes worse, contact your doctor.


ZIRGAN is used to treat eye ulcers caused by a herpes virus.


  • ZIRGAN should only be used in the eye.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while using ZIRGAN or anytime you have signs or symptoms of an eye infection.
  • The most common side effects reported in patients were blurred vision, eye irritation, eye redness and punctate keratitis (a specific type of eye surface irritation).
  • Safety and efficacy in children below the age of 2 years have not been established.
  • Consult your doctor if you experience pain, redness, itching or swelling of the eye when using ZIRGAN.
